The Italian Job Ride - Paramount's Kings Island, OH: Provided emergency services to measure and analyze Linear Induction Motor (LIM) voltage for a LIM launched roller coaster. Used a Dranetz PP4300 meter with DAQ card to measure and record cycle by cycle voltage and current waveforms.

Revenge of the Mummy - Universal Studios Florida, Orlando, FL: Provided services to review analysis of voltage dip against IEEE 519 Flicker guidelines for Linear Induction Motor launched roller coaster. Provided services for the specification of a 2500 kVar Adaptive Var Compensator, facilities modifications for its integration, and construction services to manage it procurement and installation.

Mercury Cougar Display - METREON Complex,
Cupertino, CA:
Led team providing electrical engineering design services for an interactive motor vehicle display and for the integration of the display's power, lighting, control and audio/video systems into the METREON Complex - SONY Entertainment Center.

 

Men in Black - Universal Studios Florida, Orlando, FL: Project Manager of a team of engineers functioning as Universal Creative's Staff Project Engineer providing technical oversight for the design and construction of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for this attraction at Universal Studios Florida.

Isla Nublar - Home of Jurassic Park, Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, Theme Park, Orlando, Florida: Electrical Engineering Project Manager for a large ($12 million electrical construction cost), highly confidential 80 acre facility for a major theme park. Planned and directed the four firm/office design effort including a team of four in-house employees. Electrical scope included a two million gallon river/lagoon and over 200 water effect pumps and lift motors, several control rooms, complex show interfaces, and highly themed interiors and exteriors. The electrical design included 5000 kVA of combined electrical service capacity and electrical distribution system, water effect motor control centers, interior and exterior show and back of house lighting, audio/video, security, fire alarm and building management systems, lightning and stray current protection, and various parkwide and ride/show control systems.

Resident Electrical Engineer - Universal's Islands of Adventure Theme Park: As a Universal Studios employee, served as one of only two resident electrical engineers (and the only licensed electrical engineer) providing facilities electrical engineering advice, oversight, and technical guidance to Land Project Teams on a $1,000,000,000 theme park project, including the integration of Ride/Show Systems. Reviewed and monitored the design of all electrical systems for Isla Nublar “Home of Jurassic Park”, Marvel SuperHero Island, and Port of Entry. Provided daily supervision of the construction of all electrical systems in Isla Nublar “Home of Jurassic Park”.

Universal Studios Japan - Osaka, Japan: Provided two weeks of on-site electrical engineering support investigating the compatibility of US products operating at reduced Japanese utilization voltage levels. The investigation included researching and analyzing all ride and show elements in the park. Provided executive summary report documenting the resolution or recommended corrective action for the investigated issues.

Universal Studios Japan - Osaka, Japan: Provided two weeks of emergency on-site electrical engineering design and construction support and technical guidance related to powering and grounding parkwide Audio/Video systems and Ride Systems. Provided executive summary report documenting the resolution or recommended corrective action for the investigated issues. Prepared the proposal, negotiated the contract and was in route to Osaka, Japan within 16 hours of receiving the request for emergency services.

Fantasmic! Florida, Walt Disney Imagineering, Theme Park Area Expansion, Orlando, Florida: Electrical Engineer for large, highly confidential show facility for a major theme park expansion, including a 1.75 million gallon moat and 14,400 gpm pump station, a control building, and complex show interfaces. The electrical design included 4000 kVA of combined electrical service and electrical distribution system, a pump station motor control center, interior and exterior lighting, lightning and stray current protection, and interfacing with various park and show control systems.

Mickey's Starland Revisions, Walt Disney Imagineering, Orlando, Florida: As project group leader, provided technical guidance and review of the electrical design which included ride controls, power systems, lighting systems and lightning protection. This project involved the selective demolition, renovation and reconstruction of numerous highly themed facilities including Goofy's Barn, Mickey's Country House, new Minnie's Country House, Farmer's Market Food Service, Mickey's Greeting Tents, Pete's Garage, Goofy's Barnstormer Queue and Load/Unload and other tasks. Services also included various engineering support (structural, mechanical, electrical) for Goofy's Barnstormer gravity fed roller coaster (Vekoma) and for Donald's Boat interactive water feature, including show engineering. Services, including numerous expansions to the original project scope, were completed in approximately 10 to 12 weeks in preparation for Walt Disney World's 25th Anniversary Celebration.

GM Test Track Post Show Exhibit Renovation - EPCOT, Orlando, FL: Provided electrical engineering design services for show lighting revisions.

IBM Exhibit - EPCOT, Orlando, FL: Provided electrical engineering design services for power, show lighting, show control, and audio/video systems required to support the renovation of an interactive, multi media exhibit at an Orlando theme park interactive technology exhibit hall.

Monsanto - Food - Health - Hope - EPCOT, Orlando, FL: Led team providing electrical engineering design services for power, show lighting, show control, and audio/video systems required to support the integration of a new exhibit at an Orlando theme park interactive technology exhibit hall.

Total Energy Plant Load Study - Sugar Bay Plantation Resort, St. Thomas, V.I.: Performed electrical metering and load study to investigate electrical anomalies associated with malfunctioning cogeneration/water desalination system.
